Staking WAIFUS
Governance access via time-locked WAIFUS

Participation in Yu DAO governance requires WAIFUS to be time-locked in exchange for veWAIFUS (vote-escrowed WAIFUS).
veWAIFUS represents time-weighted voting power. It is non-transferable and exists only for the duration of an active lock. Time-locked participation is the primary source of governance authority within Yu DAO.
Staking WAIFUS enables:
Voting on all DAO proposals
Participating in gauge votes that direct emissions
Boosting eligible mining rewards
Participating in governance-aligned revenue distributions
There is no minimum veWAIFUS required to vote. Submitting a proposal requires a minimum balance of [REDACTED] veWAIFUS.
Lock Parameters
When creating a lock, users must define:
Amount of WAIFUS to lock
Lock duration
Min. Lock Duration: 1 week Max. Lock Duration: 4 years
At maximum duration:
Shorter lock durations result in proportionally lower initial veWAIFUS balances.
veWAIFUS is issued immediately upon lock creation.

veWAIFUS is determined by:

4 years remaining → 1 WAIFUS = 1 veWAIFUS2 years remaining → 1 WAIFUS = 0.5 veWAIFUS1 year remaining → 1 WAIFUS = 0.25 veWAIFUSAt expiration → veWAIFUS = 0
Voting power declines linearly over time as the unlock date approaches.
veWAIFUS Properties
Once a lock is created:
veWAIFUS is non-transferable
Lock cannot be cancelled or withdrawn early
Underlying WAIFUS can only be reclaimed after expiration
A user may maintain one active lock at a time
Users may:
Extend the existing lock duration
Add additional WAIFUS to the same lock
Multiple locks with separate expiry dates are not supported.
Extending a Lock
Lock duration may be extended at any time.
Extending a lock recalculates veWAIFUS based on:
Updated remaining duration
Total WAIFUS locked
This increases or restores voting weight.
Early withdrawal is not supported.
Governance Weight from LP Staking
In addition to time-locked WAIFUS, a governance multiplier is applied for users who stake WAIFUS LP tokens, exclusive to the WAIFUS mining vault, or in other vaults only if explicitly authorized via successful governance proposal.
veWAIFUS LP Governance Multiplier:
Exists only while WAIFUS LP tokens remain actively staked
Does not mint or emit additional veWAIFUS
Does not increase WAIFUS supply
Does not convert into transferable governance tokens
Time-locked WAIFUS remains the primary and dominant source of governance authority within Yu DAO
Expiration
At lock expiration:
veWAIFUS balance reaches zero
Underlying WAIFUS can be withdrawn
Voting power does not persist beyond the lock period.
